In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God's family, the church; also verses 16, 19

1:17 - "no variation or shadow due to change" - Some manuscripts variation due to a shadow of turning
1:20 - "the righteousness that God requires" - Greek the righteousness of God

2:16 - "good" - Or benefit

3:6 - "course of life" - Or wheel of birth
3:6 - "hell" - Greek Gehenna
3:10 - "brothers" - Or brothers and sisters; also verse 12

4:1 - "passions" - Greek pleasures; also verse 3
4:1 - "within you" - Greek in your members
4:11 - "brothers" - Or brothers and sisters

5:7 - "brothers" - Or brothers and sisters; also verses 9, 10, 12, 19
5:16 - "The prayer... working" - Or The effective prayer of a righteous person has great power
